				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The DeGroote Commerce Society is pleased to present the 2013 DCS Scholarships. This year there are four scholarships worth $500.00 each and are to be awarded to four outstanding DeGroote Students.</p>
<h3>Description:</h3>
<p>The DCS Student Scholarships are presented annually to DeGroote Students who best exemplify leadership and involvement, both within the business school and the community. This can be anything including (but not limited to) participation in a DeGroote club, association, competition, a McMaster club, athletic team or volunteering in the community. The recipient should be an individual who is able to achieve balance between being involved and academics. </p>
<h3>Application Requirements:</h3>
<ol>
<li>An application essay explaining why you best exemplify the traits of a qualified recipient (based on the characteristics above) and how you have made a positive contribution to these organizations. The essay is to be no longer than one page, single spaced, 12pt font, Times New Roman.</li>
<li>Your Resume</li>
<li>Your most recent grade report from MUGSI (Full Degree Audit)</li>
</ol>

<p>The Scholarships are available to all full-time undergraduate commerce students at the DeGroote School of Business- not including those currently enrolled in an internship placement with the Commerce Internship Program.</p>

<p>DeGroote Women in Business (DWIB) is a new commerce club looking for passionate and enthusiastic students who are seeking a way to apply their skills and experience to motivate and empower female business students.</p>
<h2>DeGroote Women in Business (DWIB) is hiring their 2013/2014 Executive Team!</h2>
<p>The motive of the DeGroote Women in Business is to fully engage, motivate and empower female business students through business education and experience. It is our mission to create a platform where students can openly address issues concerning women in the business world. DWIB will provide mentorship, awareness and opportunities for students to be exposed to different industries and companies through various events.</p>
<h2>DeGroote Women in Business Hiring Positions:</h2>
<h3>VP External Communications</h3>
<ul class="fancy_list">
<li class="bullet_list">Communicate with external parties to ensure all inquires are met</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Works closely with Co-Presidents, CMO and CFO</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Will seek financial and non-financial sponsorship for DWIB projects, events and initiatives</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Pitch projects/events and expand the DWIB network</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Foster relationships with alumni and act as main agent for communication between DeGroote Commerce Society, McMaster, sponsors and greater community</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Candidates should be committed, highly-motivated, organized and possess exemplary communication skills</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Experience in sales is a definite asset, but not required</li>
</ul>
<h3>Media Director</h3>
<ul class="fancy_list">
<li class="bullet_list">Overseas all media related to advertising and marketing initiatives</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Works closely with CMO</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Develop and foster social media strategy</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Establish bi-weekly newsletter in coordination with the DWIB executives</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Largely responsible for the promotion of events and branding DWIB</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Candidates should be committed, highly- motivated, organized and creative</li>
<li class="bullet_list">Knowledge of publishing programs such as Adobe Photoshop and PDF Writer is an asset</li>

<h3>Web Developer</h3>

<li class="bullet_list">Develop the initial DWIB website and maintain on an on-going basis</li>

<li class="bullet_list">Candidates should be creative, precise and able to develop new techniques</li>

<p>The 5 Days for the Homeless campaign is an event that is put on by business schools across Canada, it is designed to help give back to the community surrounding us, particularly to youth shelters. The charity we work with is called the Notre Dame house, it is a youth shelter in downtown Hamilton that offers many services to youth who are currently living on the streets.<br />

<h5>Our Sleepers</h5>
<p>The campaign will consist of 6 DeGroote Students (Ryland Varcoe, Gavin Cook, Chloe Cross,<br />
Riley Booth, Ari Fejzaj, and Max Planques) living in the courtyard of MUSC as if they were<br />
homeless all week.</p>
<h5>The Schedule</h5>
<p>Opening Ceremonies – Monday March 11th at 10:30AM (DSB Lobby)<br />
Closing Ceremonies – Friday March 15th at 2:30PM (DSB Lobby)<br />
All week: Different activities and events everyday in the MUSC courtyard and DSB, as well as donation routes in Hamilton Mountain, Ancaster and Westdale.</p>

<li>Make a group of 2-6 people</li>
<li>Sign up for an audition on the DCS office door (DSB 131) in the DeGroote School of Business lobby</li>
<li>Make an amazing audition! Be creative and have fun!</li>
<li>Come to your audition time with your printed application and show us what you got, why you love DeGroote, why you&#8217;ll be the best Greensuit and what makes you the best Greensuit for 2013-2014!</li>

<h5>What do I do for my audition?</h5>
<p>Anything! Most people do some sort of skit. Do whatever you want just as long as it shows us that you are a passionate commie on the inside and want incoming first years to have the time of their life at DeGroote!</p>
<h5>How long should my act/skit be?</h5>
<p>It&#8217;s probably best to keep it 5 to 15 minutes long. A longer skit doesn&#8217;t make it better! Remember it&#8217;s all about showing your passion and energy! The rest of the interview will be us asking you questions!</p>

Mystery Road Bus is finally here. It is this Saturday and we are meeting in the DeGroote lobby for 8 pm to fill out proper forms and the bus is coming shortly after. We are leaving at 8:30 pm the latest. Tickets will be sold Tuesday-Friday in the DCS office from 10:30 till 3:30. It will cost $15 and that includes transportation and cover. We will be leaving the place at 1:30 am back to McMaster. </p>

There are only 56 seats available in total and as of noon today, 29 tickets have been sold.  So get your tickets early, reserve your spot in the DCS Office now.</p>
